Hoxton Manor Allotments
Arguably the most comprehensive web site for an allotment site that I have so far seen. It includes lots of links.
digmyplot.co.uk
Personal site of an organic allotment holder. Well-written with good photos; concentrates on general aspects, i.e. no information on growing individual crops

Gardener’s Network
Contains a fairly comprehensive set of useful “how to grow” pages. Appears to be American-based
Doctor George Cook’s site (alias allaboutliverpool.com)
Another useful site for new plot holders. While David Frary’s site is more in-depth, George Cook’s pages major in photos, lots of them in fact. He appears to be quite a keen photographer
FreshFoodCentral
This has the makings of a solid, professional-looking site, marrying the background information that can be found on Wikipedia with some information on growing individual crops and a useful-looking set of links. However, it has a very limited set of crops at the moment. One possible disadvantage for us is that it looks US centric to my untutored eye

A personal site that contains useful articles on many aspects of cultivation, a personal diary and links to other sites. It also hosts a popular forum (you have to register to be able to post items)
WebRing
allows people and organisations to form a “community”. In this case it is the allotment & vegetable gardening community (or ring as it is called). In essence, it simply provides details of other allotment-related sites that can be browsed.

Diaries & Blogs
| Vortex's blog |
Blog of a Sunningdale plot holder |
Links to personal diaries
People who maintain online diaries of their allotment experiences (linked through the allotment.org.uk site mentioned above)
Jane Perrone’s blog
I ought to make mention of blogs although I am a bit ambivalent about them (bah humbug!), but others love them. I have chosen this one because (a) she has recently written a book on allotments and (b) more importantly, it includes links to quite a few other allotment blogs … and you have to start somewhere. Blog search engines, e.g. Technorati, do not seem a great deal of help as far as I can see

Rainfall Radar
I am sure that many of you use the Met Office web site. The rainfall radar page provides an animated picture over the last 6 hours (based on snapshots taken every 30 minutes). It is very useful for making an informed opinion on the likelihood of rain during your planned visit to the plot. Note that as it downloads a lot of data it can be quite slow over a dial-up connection.
